ECA regrets that an error was made in the ECA Newsletter sent to members a few weeks ago. The Newsletter indicated that the IRS had made a ruling regarding the National Elevator Industry Health Plan arbitration case. This is not correct. An arbitrator has ruled in the case, and that ruling will be discussed at the ECA Annual Meeting next month. A copy of the arbitration ruling will be made available to members once ECA receives authorization to do so. ECA has no direct knowledge of any IRS concerns related to this arbitration case.
ECA apologizes for any misunderstanding that may have resulted from our error.

Elevator Contractors of America |
|
levator Contractors of America (ECA) was formed in the Spring of 2002 to represent independent union elevator contractors during negotiations with the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC). With the major employers negotiating independently of the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII), it was apparent that the independent contractor would have no voice during the negotiations. The ECA agreement with the IUEC became effective July 9, 2002.
The ECA is the voice of the independent union elevator contractor. In this age of consolidation, it is more important than ever that we stand together and speak as one voice.
Together, the independent elevator contractors of the United States employ approximately 25% of the union elevator force in the United States, more than most of the majors individually!
